Viv was taken aback when he saw Aditi walking towards him.

“What on earth are you doing here?” he asked her, as he gave her a big bear hug. “Gosh it’s been ages!” she could see the genuine joy in his face.

“Well, I am here with Gaurav. He is here on business and I just flew in yesterday and DJ told me you would be here today at this time. I was worried that I might not find you; c’mon this place is like a big maze. But I figured you’d be here!” she winked at him. “Ok, I walked around a bit and finally found you here. There…you got me!” she threw her hands up in fake exasperation.

“That’s really wonderful AD. Let’s go get some dinner if you don’t have plans already and catch up” he wondered and they started walking back.

Roshni was not happy at all. She thought she had gotten over him, “It’s been six years!! GET A LIFE, Roshni”, she kept telling herself. As she walked into her house completely unaware that she was drenched and was dripping from head to toe. She was totally lost in thoughts as she dropped the keys on the counter and opened the fridge to get a drink. She just sat at the table trying to gather herself. She then realized that she was totally soaking wet, and went in to change.

This was so unlike her. She always thought she would never lose it. But that day had to come as well. As she rummaged through her closet to find her comfy PJs ,a shoe box fell out of the top shelf.

“Freaking hell” she screamed annoyingly. She did not want the whole thing tumbling down. “I don’t have time for this drama”, she muttered as she picked up the box and checked to make sure nothing else was falling down. Some of the stuff from the box had scattered on the floor and as she picked them up she realized they were photos from times beyond. She was sure she had tossed them out, “how did they get back here?” She cleaned up the mess and put it back in the closet and plopped on her bed. She turned the TV on to see if she could be distracted from her thoughts. They were playing “When Harry Met Sally” and it didn’t help her cause.

Her mind kept going back to the box. She gave up and brought the box down. She found old pictures from high school, from college, trinkets and trifles…all filled with his scent and memories. She was holding her favorite picture of Viv, shot at the beach in Mangalore as he was walking towards her to grab his camera. He had a wicked smile on his face and he just looked his best.

She did not want to do this, but she figured it was time to face the monsters. She had been fighting this too long. After they broke up she took back all pictures of them together, her pictures, his pictures and all the gifts they had exchanged. She said she was going to burn them or shred them to pieces.

“I don’t want any memory of yours haunting me”, she remembered the words she had screamed at Viv. It still made sense and she was wondering why she sitting here today looking at all the things again! It was like someone had hit the rewind button in her life.

She pulled out a little red gift box from inside and opened it. In it was a beautiful shell pendant. He had picked that out for her from the beach and had actually taken the time to paint her name on it. It sounded so corny, just thinking about it now. “Geez! What was wrong with me?” she wondered as she looked into the box for more stuff that would make her look even more stupid. She was laughing out loud when she read one of the greeting cards.

“How did this all make so much sense back then?” she wondered when the phone rang, which made her jump.

A day trip to catch fall foliage in Vermont ended up with the following (not necessarily in that order!!!) Hikes to Waterfalls, Red housed, stops on I-91N, covered bridges and ZEBRAS!!! Yup you read it right, it was a Zebra and then a stop in a beautiful little town called Woodstock,VT. I would love going back there again.

Tulips galore @ the 2009 Albany Tulip Festival. I went after the festival because it is very tough to get good decent shots with so many people walking around. The tulips are in various colors and are planted with careful thought to enhance contrast and color. Again tried to get some shots with the evening sun. This festival happens at the Washington square Park,Albany,NY every year around Mother's day weekend.

A host of Golden Daffodils in the evening sun @ the 2009 Meriden Daffodil Festival Hubbard Park,Meriden,CT. I had my share of the yummy Belgian waffles and waited for the golden light in the evening to get some shots and also met a photographer from myrecordjournal.com and got some tips for shooting pix. Watched fireworks in the night and then called it a day. Was a nice trip with quiet time to click pictures.

I shot this picture at the Bridge of Flowers last year. Was a tough shot to get as the bees were constantly buzzing and moving around and the height of the plant wasnt helping at all either. Just put in one more picture on the flickr page. Need to upload the rest soon. Awaiting the blooming of Cherry Blossoms, Tulips and Daffodils in my yard.

Spent an entire day @ the Animal Kingdom and it was really a lot of fun. We went first thing in the morning and got the Fast Passes for the Kilimanjaro Safari and it was one wild and bumpy ride. We thoroughly enjoyed spotting flamingos by the pond, Rhinos,Giraffes, Lion (The King of the Jungle was taking his afternoon nap, so we didnt really see his face), Tigers,Elephants and so many many other animals. Animal Kingdom is a kewl place with Asia and Africa. They had the whole friends of the animal thing which the little brat enjoy doing and we wandered all around Animal kingdom to get it stamped. The parade was enjoyable and we got to shake hands with the characters as they walked by and also collected some souvenirs for the scrapbook.
Caught the Festival of the Lion King and then also met Mickey Mouse there. Tired after all the little Treks (Maharaja Jungle Trek, Panchgani Forest Trail) and all the excitement , calling it a day, we finally headed home.

First of the few posts from my Disney Trip.

Day 1 was spent in Magic Kingdom. It was just too beautiful. We ended up meeting Donald (twice) and also rode the Goofy's roller coaster and also ate a mickey waffle, watched the parade. watched fireworks at night and well did a lot of stuff at Magic Kingdom, only to come back for more soon.Personally I enjoyed the Pirates of the Carribean thing and the fireworks at Cinderella's castle.

Fall colors in Vermont

Had been to a cabin of a friend's in Vermont for a day. Boy! was it gorgeous up there. Made my stops on the Mohawk Trail to get there.
There was a private lake in the neighbour's back yard..and well it couldnt get more beautiful believe me.

New England is the place to be. Looking forward to next fall.

Fall Foliage White Mountains,NH-Weekend getaway

White mountains, NH as such is always a hit or miss for me. I end up being there for early peak or past peak. May be next time I should get it right. Timing is everything for fall colors isn't it? The drive thru I-91N via Vermont was very very scenic. In fact VT had more colors than NH! sigh!

This time I took the Mt.Washington Cog Railway and it was chugging along at 3 mph to the summit. At the summit they give you 20 mins or so..some say its less, some say its more...I say its less, but it was 29°F up there with the wind playing complete havoc. If I had spread my hands a little further, I could have had the wind beneath my wings to soar in the skies above. I was able to get this interesting shot from the summit with the ice on the rocks. Then we drove around the Kancamagus highway and stopped for shots making stops at all the cascades and falls.

Fall colors on the Mohawk Trail,MA

Though I have lived around the area for quite a while, I have never visited or driven thru 2W...popularly known as the Mohawk Trail. It is a very scenic drive all along the deerfield river with some breathtaking views and gorgeous colors. There is also a beautiful hairpin turn and there is a summit point at this exact place with some amazing views. For miles and miles you can only see mountains with vibrant colors. I made a lot of stops along the way as I was heading up to Vermont, to take some shots. It was a glorious day to be out and I had my lunch by the river. Also stopped at the Bridge of flowers for some flower shots and for some icecream.

Maine...mania...magic yet again

I simply love to start off my fall with my visit to Maine. This year I thought I wouldn't be able to make it...but I did. Moosehead lake was as beautiful as ever and this time I tried to do the Bingham loop and it was yes very scenic, though I didnt drive through all of it. I was able to do the float plane ride and it was the best thing ever. I have never seen anything as beautiful as Maine and fall colors. Mother nature in her heights of glory...the colors so vibrant. You simply can't resist. I was going crazy clicking as usual. My usual drives to Kokadjo and my usual stops along the way to get my shots.

Day 2 was spent in Acadia, which didnt have much of colors. The little town of Bar Harbor where I stayed was very very pretty. The walk to the waterfront and yes there were some beautiful flowers there and I yes went right out to click them.I had Falafel for lunch and it was quite yummy and made my way to the waterfront with ice cream in hand...it was chocolate cappucinno something. It was heavenly!
All through the trip I tortured my friends by stopping at odd places to click my shots and to get them to pose for me. I had an amazing time.
Looking forward to my next trip this fall and every fall.

Wild and in my yard

A few seasons back (early Spring), I had found these wild pink flowers and mini daisies that were growing wild and a friend of mine was kind enough to lend me some. I decided to bring them to my house and well grow them. The daisies were blooming, but the pink did not do anything at all. I forgot all about it, though I was still watering this pot. I did not remember how its leaves looked like, so I wrote it off. But surprisingly, this week I saw the first pink flower bloom and I just couldnt help but click it. The mums are also blooming in the yard right now.

Chapter 5

Suraj was happy to bump into DJ. They grabbed a coffee and sat down to talk.

“I guess this time it is a sure shot. It is gonna work”, DJ sounded very excited.

“Boy! Look at you gloating. You never give up do you?” Suraj wondered as DJ raised his hands for a high five. “I know Roshni better than anyone”, Suraj continued ignoring the big grin on DJ’s face. “She is one stubborn moron. Puts her heart over her head and it is difficult to see things clearly when your emotions blind you. Believe me, she is one tough nut to crack”

“Nope, am not saying its gonna be easy Suraj, but this is our best shot ever. I know what you are talking about and we are not playing any mind games with her. It is clearly a matter of the heart and sparks would fly when they meet up”

“She hasn’t spoken to him in six years; do you think she is going to change with just one glance? Knowing her I really doubt that” Suraj sounded worried as he said this.

“I have a good plan here. So far they have been conversing on the phone, always rude to each other”

“She is rude, he is always the nice guy”, Suraj interrupted.

“So much for backing up your sister dude! Anyway, those were terrible. I met Viv the other day and tried to call her and it was yet another fiasco. This time it is gonna work, since they are going to be seeing so much of each other “ DJ chuckled.

“Those two blokes are not worth the effort, but I love them too much. This time it better work, if not count me out from your sucker plans” Suraj commented and they chatted away, their voices drowning with the chatter at Grand Central.

It was getting dark and Vividh wrapped his little getaway at Central park and started strolling back. He was still thinking about Roshni, when he heared someone call out his name.

Roshni was really struggling hard not to think about Vividh Patil and it was getting to her. AD had called her several times during the day and she did not bother to answer. She was sure they would have a conversation about the phone call and she was not ready for it yet. She was lost in thoughts as she drove back home. She saw signs for Nandi Hills and a whole storm of memories flooded her thoughts.

“Damn it Viv! I was getting along fine and you had to call me!” she yelled out loud.

Rose garden 2008

I went there like may be twice. It is always a magical place filled with I believe 6000 odd roses and i believe 3000 varieties of it. It is just like heaven. They also have a perennials garden and then there are the tulips always early spring. These roses just bloom and cover up the whole area. There are also concerts in the evenings and its just an awesome place to be.

Block Island

Had been to the big blue this summer with some of my friends. It was a Gal's day out (I havent done that in a very long time) and it was total fun.
Took the 30 minute ferry ride, of course after the 2.5hr drive from home and then we were there on the island...voila! We rented some bikes and drove around the island, all the uphill drive tiring us out but it was worth the climb and when we reached the lighthouse it was a beautiful sight. We also then visited the beach and some more beaches, before calling it a day. This is definitely on my summer to do list every year from now on.

There is this house with a beautiful garden on my way to the park. I have been stopping to admire this beautiful garden everytime I pass it. The other day, I decided to stop to click some shots and I met the owners. Looks like they spend a lot of time tending to their garden. There were some beautiful daisies and lavender, and awesome coreopsis..these were the pretty yellow flowers all over their yard. There were some pretty daylilies too.

i had this one eating out of my hand literally, originally uploaded by digijinx.

Had been to Mystic recently visiting the aquarium and the Seaport grounds. Its really a very interesting place. The aquarium had a sea lion show and then the birds of the outback was an awesome first time experience for me. I had some bird food stuck to an ice cream stick in my hand trying to coerce some birds to eat it. Some refused it outright. This one in the picture though yielded to my request and i had him/her eating right out of my hand, placed the parakeet in front of my cam and had some really great shots!

The seaport grounds were really filled with a lot of historical facts and figures. Took the water shuttle back and forth and enjoyed the view of the tall ships.

The Bronx botanical garden was quite a trip. Only the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden was in bloom and it had beautiful roses. There was a tulip tree..yes a tulip tree. I need to do more research on that.

This is my yard yet again just after the rain. I was surprised to find roses in my yard...sweet surprises and of course the lilacs are blooming just about now and i also have the day lilies starting to bud and i also noticed some begonias. I really love my yard. My mint and Cilantro seem to have caught on and so is my single Daisy.

Set in middle of Framingham, this serene garden in the woods is a beautiful place to visit. It is part of the New England wild flower society and it has its fair share of wild flowers. Once you enter they give you a map of the trail and its just fun to walk around to explore the place. I walked the Curtis Trail and the Lost pond trail. There were pitcher plants, prickly pears and some really pretty wild flowers. There was this one yellow flower called the yellow lady slipper and it was just as cute as a button. Stanley Park came as a pleasant, am being subtle it came down as a huge... surprise to me as I headed down there for a little while (which turned out to be the whole day). The drive into the park greeted me with pink,red and purple tulips..and I guessed wow..this is a start ..more tulips and I really didn't expect what came next.

Of course for those of you who do not wish do read this post here is the link to the whole set!! enjoy! There are some pix here and there in this post.

I moved into the rose garden and there was a wedding party there getting pix clicked by the tower. And I also got lucky with a shot a bee on a pretty purple flower.

This is an interesting spot in the park where there is a big tower and some flags hoisted and there is a map of North America on the pavement and kids were playing guessing the states on that.and then there is the rose garden in front of it with two gazebos and a kewl fountain in the middle(where the water sprays crazy with the wind). Of course there were people throwing pennies in the pond. :) There are some benches here and there.

Though the roses weren't in bloom, the lilacs filled the entire garden with their intoxicating fragrance. I have always wondered how maple flowers look like and this time I guess I got lucky to spot them or not!! These were tiny pink ones on the tree.

Check them out in the set. I simply love flowers and you can tell that already. I could hear the sound of water gushing as I stopped clicking these lilacs and clicked some red and white azaleas that were together, makes one contrasting picture and was really kewl to click them.

There was also this statue of a boy and a gal holding an umbrella and it was raining on their parade there, just there. I walked down the path only to find this big pond/lake..let me call it a lake and i cud still hear the sound of water gushing and I just couldn't make out where it was coming from.

There were ducks and swans swimming near the water shed kind of thing with a waterwheel and there was a small waterfall filling up this end of the lake. There was also a covered bridge right in front of me and when I looked to the side there was this huge bridge taking you to the other end where there is a bench..(believe me its sooo serene just to sit there). I wasnt going there yet, need to click all these dont i?

I stopped to smell the lilacs, took a little walk on the bridge and then the tower was playing a song for the newly weds. I heard from the park security that there were actually a total of 4 weddings that day! I walked along the trail to click some squirrels, but nope..they ran away. I wandered along and clicked some purple Plymouth flowers and well..then I noticed this huge bed of light and dark pink flowers by a small wooden bridge. Perfect setting for an Orton effect on a picture. :) I went crazy clicking them.

I then walked along the bridge to the other end to sit on that serene bench and well..I found a tiny little waterfall on the way there and I had to stop to click that. It was really fascinating to click that. With a mild breeze, it was just a picture perfect day. :)

The other end also had its share of surprise, there was a frog pond with a little stone bridge and some croaking frogs and water lilies. I walked along the entire length, took a break on bench..and then reluctantly walked back the trail to get to the main entrance and then went around to the football fields. There were some interesting violets and pretty pink thingys there. I also visited the Japanese rock garden.

All in all it was one eventful evening at Stanley Park and to think I missed visiting this place the last couple of years!! Thats something altogether. That was my first day of adventure this loong weekend. More posts and pix to come, keep watching this space.

This place in West Virginia is definitely worth a visit. Its very easy to get lost trying to find this place, not to worry everyone knows where you are going just ask for directions. You make some sharp and steep curves as you go uphill and there are no railings on ur side and you look down only to find this vast abyss...the valley below..its quite scary and adventurous at the same time.The exterior is exquisite as the palace comes into view when you dont know where you are going.
This golden palace started out as a home for the ISKCON head and later on became his shrine.

The inside of the palace has stained glass windows, matching crystal chandeliers (the Austrian crystals on the chandeliers match the color of the stained glass windows),teak doors, sand work on the glass on the door, gold leavings all over...its just breathtaking.

They had a festival going on at the temple when we went down there. There were people singing and dancing everywhere.

Pittsburgh downtown

We made a small pitstop at Pittsburgh downtown to take a look at the three rivers meeting point...it is actually called Point State Park (we learnt that later). I was clicking a lot of shots from the car as we traveled through downtown. It was quite an interesting walk to the Park as we found out that it was closed and we took a small detour to get there and it is quite something! There is this huge fountain near the point where the rivers meet. Pittsburgh supposedly has the largest number of bridges in the country..(i didnt know this before) and to think of all the traffic whew! I pity the people who drive there.

Had recently been to visit the Pittsburgh Venkateshwara Temple. It was one helluva drive (took us almost 10 hrs) with all the construction going on in PA! and to think that this temple was at the west end of PA..but it was worth it. This temple is one of the oldest in the US and it is built in different levels. We took our time at the temple. We also visited the Sai Baba temple nearby..man everything up there is on a hill.

Was trying to dabble with the Orton effect , this picture was taken at the Rose garden,Hartford,CT. It is a very big garden with a lot of things to see. I really enjoy the walk in this perennial garden.

I thought, I almost missed this one, but I didnt. This (Albany Tulip Festival) is a beautiful flower festival that happens in Washington park in the heart of Albany every year around Mothers day weekend. I decided to go there after the festival so that there would be less people and I could shoot the flowers in peace. This year I was surprised to find some tulips with fringes..like lace trimmings at the end, like the one in the picture here. It was yet another beautiful thing to do in Spring.

There is this beautiful church near the town square in the next city. To add to the beauty it has pink and white dogwood trees just near the entrance! now could I ask for more?? Daffodil festival, Meriden CT

I was so looking forward to this festival since it was my first real shot at spring. The Daffodils, the early bloomers. This is an annual festival at Meriden,CT and I was looking forward to a whole batch of daffodils (they said there would be 600,001 of them) all in the same place, but they were spread out in batches all over Hubbard Park and it was actually fun going around trying to spot them. They were everywhere. Soon as we got down from the bus I spotted them.

Quoting Wordsworth

When all at once I saw a crowd
A host of golden yellow daffodils
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze..."

That was the first thought on my mind and it was clicking time.Amidst all the crowd and the food and the fun I managed to get some decent shots of the golden yellow daffodils.

The food at the festival was awesome too. I had the best waffles there.along with funnel cakes,cotton candy.

When I was walking around my neighborhood to click the dogwoods..I also stumbled across some wild violets, dandelions,and this pinkish flower(let me know the name if you know what they are called).
Spring is putting a lot of smiles on my face. Am so glad.

These flowers are just downright beautiful. I know there are white dogwoods too. I have quite a few pink dogwood trees around the neighborhood and I decided to click some shots over the evening. The sun came out once I came home! that was sad. Still I managed to get some shots of these beautiful things. Since these trees were just on the sidewalk was easy for me to click, yet I had to still avoid some serious staring from the dogs. There is a dogwood festival coming up,lets see if I get the time to make it down there.

These tulips are growing near the back fence...near the garage in my backyard and they presented an awesome opportunity to click with a dark background. I could really see that it made a big difference when your background is darker! and the flowers come out really outstanding!!

The golden yellow Daffodils showed up first. Sincere as always the first ones to bloom soon as spring starts. The tulips came next, I didnt know there were tulip bulbs in my yard and i got soo excited seeing them bloom, which obviously meant the camera had to come out for some pictures!

Snow seems to be the latest trend. Didn't you hear?
Its been snowing pretty consistently every weekend or a long weekend. Its probably the weekend special..we are either hit with wintry mix and sleet or some good 6 or 7 inches of snow. We were hit with a snowstorm just for the New Year, guess the message got up there a little late, we wanted a white Christmas duhh! not a white start to the year!!

Thursday afternoon the snow came down pretty hard. We had almost a feet of snow I believe..and as if that wasnt enough...we got a good share of snow/ice/sleet/wintry mix..you name it we got it..on Sunday....
Its actually been snowing almost everyday..and every Sunday there has been sleet for the last three weekends in a row..makes my Mondays all the more interesting and making me looking forward to sculpt my car out of the ice...

Apple picking a fall tradition in the US and I did just that with family and friends. Juicy red apples, tangy green apples...it was fun clicking,biting and crunching and hunting for good apples. We were never happy with the tree we were nearby, always on the hunt for better ones. The green apples with some salt tasted just yummy. NO i didnt bake any apple pies, ended up eating them all just like that.

The UBS thanksgiving parade

I saw Odie,Bob the builder,Curious George, the Looney tunes et all at the Stamford UBS thanksgiving parade. The parade lasted for almost an hour and a half and ended with Santa and Frosty. The kids and the crowd kept chanting "SPIN! SPIN! SPIN!" whenever any float passed by and the people holding the floats obliged and would run around spinning the float. One particular float...of Pink panther..the guys were smart and they all just spun instead of spinning the float and it drew immense laughter from the crowd.

There were lots of kids dancing in the parade and the clowns would go at it too..putting in their own funny steps. There were also lots of freebies and ppl were going crazy all over the place to grab something for themselves. Am sure all the kids had a blast.

Had recently been to my favorite city NYC ofcourse...with some friends. It was a day of fun,frolic,laughter,good food and happy clicking. We went to catch a show at the Madison Square Garden and then some ice skating and I of course wandered off into the street fair. NY is awesome...I enjoyed every bit of it. A friend of my mine had visited me a while ago and I had been to Harvard,MIT..Boston et all with her. This was probably the first time I have set foot on the campus. Harvard is all old style architecture...while MIT stands tall with its multi-storeyed buildings. I personally liked Harvard a lot for its authentic looks and I bet the campus would look lovely in Fall. Its right outside he Harvard square station on the Red line to the campus. Once you get in ...John Harvard welcomes you sitting on his pedestal. Its quite a huge campus and we didn't explore it all..but spent a considerable amount of time there.

The next thing that always interests me about Harvard is you get to play chess for a small amount @Harvard square. I met this Russian who was waiting to play chess there and you know how that is...Never play chess with a Russian...unless you want to lose. Anyway jokes apart, he also teaches this game and he was very friendly and posed for a few shots.

Next stop was MIT. The campus is a short walk from the Kendall/MIT station. Took a couple of pictures here and there. I really did not spend a lot of time on this campus. The walk to the campus is really nice though with a lot of flags in the median...(hmm..I wonder why they have it)

Whale watching yet again in Province town,MA. The cape was amazingly warm for end of September and we also visited Marconi point. In case you are wondering...Marconi was the inventor of radio and telegraph.

The Marconi beach was so beautiful and I didnt feel like going back..but I had to. The whales were logging, (resting) and moving around as usual. We again spotted two mother and calf pairs. The humpback whales are migrating to the Carribean for the winter and they breed there and come back. I learnt a little about baleen whales (they are the toothless ones) in this trip.

Maine Mania..Magic..yet again

It was one awesome trip yet again and I had the best time in one of Nature's most treasured corners, Maine. Trying something different in this post with more pictures. Of course in case you don't want to read through the post...

I went up to Moosehead lake yes..again...and made a couple of stops on the way to click some shots....beautiful colors...wild flowers...workhorses..

There was this one beautiful house with awesome colors and this flower here was shot right opp to that. There are pictures of the house et all in flickr as usual. The horses were in a nice setting and they were very majestic and royal. They were workhorses..and they were well..not working..

Our first stop was Houston Brook falls and we almost missed it. The pleasant ridge plantation was a good landmark and we hiked through the woods to catch a glimpse of the Houston Brook falls and it finally reaches the Wyman lake...You can catch a clear view of Wyman lake from the falls. Its absolutely beautiful

Moosehead lake did not disappoint me so much even though I went a week ahead of peak foliage season. I completed all the scenic drives and it was funny because we were trying to spot a Moose and ended up seeing a lot of deers. The drive to Kokadjo from Greenville was really scenic. I enjoyed clicking pix of the Blair mountain from a distance at the First roach pond

The last scenic drive Greenville-Monson-Willimantic Loop was the most adventurous of all...it was spectacular with the wilson stream flowing and little cascades. People were camping right on the cliff! I wish I had done that! sigh!!
The view as we entered this loop was breathtaking with the Borestone and Barren mountains at a distance.

We also spotted deers on this drive and it was really a very narrow lane..allowing us very little freedom to make constant pit stops. We still managed to do so..and I clicked this deer.

I was disappointed since I could not do the floatplane ride and I was so looking to click from the plane...it was too windy on the Saturday that I went...and I just had to take it.

Day2 was spent entirely at the Acadia National Park. Its on Mount Desert island and it is a national park...how kewl can that be??

We started off with the intention of visiting the otter cliffs and the Bass Harbor head lighthouse..but ended up doing a lot more. We did the whole loop at the Acadia National Park. The Park loop is the most travelled one of all in this Park. There were some beautiful bridges. You could see people hiking, biking and exploring this beautiful park.

There were lots of viewing spots with good parking space for a glimpse of fall colors as we drove up the Cadillac mountain to the summit point. It is named so because of Mr.Antoine Cadillac...who owned these islands once and also well was the one who founded Detroit..and yes..his name lives on with GM's luxury cars..Cadillac. Interestingly it is the highest point in the Atlantic coast(1530 ft) On our way up the Cadillac mountain we spotted a stubborn seagull. It had a good spot and wasn't budging from there...no matter what.

We also went to the otter cliffs. people were up there..painting the cliffs. Otter cove point was absolutely beautiful

Finally it was time for us to windup and head towards the BassHarbor head light house and I was disappointed with the view at first as I directly went close to the lighthouse. I had seen pix of this lighthouse with rocks and the sea..and I could not get any of that shot. Then I when I came out..I saw a sign leading to the Bass Harbor head lighthouse..trail..I took that and voila..I had my shot. it was absolutely amazing.

All good things had to come to an end so did this one. I had a blast clicking pix.

Washington DC

It was trip to DC on a hot hot weekend this summer. Visited the White house, the Capitol Building, the Air and Space museum, the Renwick Gallery (smithsonian museum), some memorials and of course lunch buffet at Minerva,Fairfax VA. It was one awesome trip. Thats the brief overview of the trip.

It was a hot hot Saturday and I was stuck in traffic in NJ for a long time and finally entered DC. Its one of those cities where you absolutely need GPS yet you would get lost. I think I would say the same about Boston city too. Took the Metro(Thats one of the best thing in DC...and its an awesome metro train all over the city) and went to the White House of course and walked the lengths of it...also made a detour to the Renwick Art Gallery...quite a lot of modern art...queer and funny...but very captivating and intriguing. Also had a small picnic at the Lafayette park. The Capitol Building was really neat and I managed to get some good shots of the building.That was it...we were exhausted. The heat was too much to take I tell ya.

The next day we went to the tidal basin, watched the geese, sat near the Potomac...went to the Lincoln memorial...walked the entire length of the reflecting pool (with all the filth around)..also visited the Korean and the Vietnam war memorials..sneaking time to buy some souvenirs. The view of the Lincoln memorial from the WW II memorial was nice with the reflection and everything. The WWII memorial..has its own charm.

It was then time to visit the air and space museum..we also watched a Cosmic Collision show at the Einstein Planetarium. Also walked into a space shuttle (rocket) model. Awed and amazed by the different displays of the planes and then it was time for lunch at Minerva...DC is one place you must visit...at least once. and Minerva lunch buffet is one thing you can go as many times as you please.

Big E is an annual event and is one of New England's Biggest fair happening usually in the month of September. The traffic around the area gets crazy alright. Its lot of fun though, so all the craziness goes right through your head.

To start off there are these State houses of New England ( if you didn't know..Connecticut, Maine,Massachusetts,New Hampshire,Rhode Island and Vermont together make up this New England) and each state carries its speciality. The Maine potatoes are what stand out. They are just sooo yummy! Its also perfect timing for leaf peepers to gather information about the fall foliage in all parts of New England.

Then there is the Mardi Gras Parade with floats and beads. I was so busy collecting beads, that I did not click pix. Thats a sign you went to Big E if you wear those gaudy beads around your neck. Dunno why you would do that...but you would still.

I also went to a Farm-a-Rama and saw like alpacas,Llamas,Chicks hatching from the egg and well Pigs! There was this huge mom pig and some 11-12 piglets...and two of them were literally on each other's nerves having a huge row over saw dust. It was too funny to watch them. I was reminded of Charlotte's web and I was looking to see if there was a spider web somewhere there.There was also a horse show and well the horses were jumping over a pole and stuff...equestrianism.. I believe is what they call it.

The craft common was a delight..there were so many swarovski crystal jewelry..the international bazaar was very nice too. It had those kewl egyptian paintings, those bamboo shots, lucky stones, lucky feng shui charms...intriguing.

At the better living center, saw a guy with a steam iron. Its a pretty neat product and also a vacuum cleaner which can wash and clean floors...neat product again.

There are these hell lotta rides that you could go on till you throw up or get dizzy and the games you could play to win loads of soft toys. its lots of fun doing that. But you need cash...no cards there and there is always this huge line at the ATM machine there.

Some real kewl garden stalls and furniture stalls. May be i would consider buying them if I owned a house! Sigh!!

There is food everywhere you turn, funnel cakes, fried dough, french fries, lobsters, hot dog stalls,pizza, beer garden,taverns, lemonades, cotton candy, kettle corn...the list is endless.

There is a chinese drum show and a live band playing everyday. You can see kids dancing off stage for the music, its so much fun watching them do that.

There is also a free zoo and then you can ride on an elephant, a camel...man its a mini country altogether this fair I tell ya.
Its on till Sep 30th. If you are in the New England area, don't miss it.

The best time to visit this place would be Summer! I did just that and it was one mindblowing experience yet again.
I will shortly list why it was so.

The volume of water approaching the falls during peak flow season is 202,000 cubic feet per second (5,720 m³/s)
In October 1829, Sam Patch, who called himself The Yankee Leaper, jumped from a high tower into the gorge below the falls and survived; this began a long tradition of daredevils trying to go over the Falls.
In 1901, 63-year-old school teacher Annie Edson Taylor was the first person to go over the Falls in a barrel as a publicity stunt; she survived, bleeding, but virtually unharmed
In what some called the "Miracle at Niagara", Roger Woodward, a seven-year-old American boy, was swept over the Horseshoe Falls protected only by a life vest on July 9, 1960, as two tourists pulled his 17-year-old sister Deanne from the river only 20 feet (6 m) from the lip of the Horseshoe Falls at Goat Island.
The flow of water was stopped completely over both falls on March 29th 1848 due to an ice jam in the upper river for several hours. This is the only known time to have occurred.

I did visit the Niagara Falls last year and thought that the cave of the winds was exhilarating...and nothing would get better than that. I could remember standing under the Hogenekkal Falls and thinking the same...but I proved myself wrong yet again. This time around I took the Chopper tour of the falls and man was it awesome! It was beyond believable. This picture here, you can see the rainbow across the horseshoe falls. The cave of winds and the maid of the mist was once again refreshing rides. We also saw the fireworks over the falls on Friday evening and also saw the falls in the lights. Yellow, red,blue...That was yet another rainbow altogether.

If only…Chapter 4
I know...its been a long time since I posted a followup to my story...I found some time to write...so here goes chapter 4. To catch up read the previous posts under the tag If only

Dhruv Joshi, for all the happy go lucky guy that he was, was a multi talented creature. He was a Robotics Engineer and he was a DJ too at one of the local clubs. He lived in Bangalore. A little shy of 6 feet tall, he was the TDH package bundled into one, throwing in a humorous nature. He was just too good to be true.
DJ sounded a bit happy when he hung up the phone with Roshni. “This time it ought to work”, he told himself, crossing his fingers.And he was getting ready to board the train to NY City and he bumped into Suraj at the station. Suraj was Roshni’s brother.

Roshni was still wondering how he gathered enough mettle to call her. Not that she didn’t enjoy talking to him again. His voice still had that magic and stirred up so many memories. She tried to brush away thoughts about Viv and get on her with her life. It was difficult, but she was sure she would get through this.

It was still early October, and the fall in New York City was gorgeous. Vividh was strolling through Central Park and he was still thinking about his conversation (or rather monologue) with Roshni. They had not talked to each other in 6 years and he occasionally would hear DJ mention about her and would gather news. He never pressed him for any info. DJ was always surprised as to how Viv could keep so quiet when he knew in his heart that he loved Roshni so much. The kind of relationship Viv and Rosh shared, it was difficult to explain with words. They were the best of friends, perfect for each other…. And DJ only wished they would grow up.
Viv was lost in thoughts as he sat down in the sheep meadow which was now covered with vivid fall leaves, there was some guy raking leaves at a far corner. Kids were enjoying It was late in the afternoon and it was not much crowded for a Saturday.
“Gosh! I love this place in fall”, he told himself as he pulled out his camera to click some shots. Viv was a passionate photographer and he loved NY City in fall and Central Park was in his daily routine. He would somehow squeeze in a visit in a day. As he started clicking he realized how much he missed Roshni.

He was remembering how the gang used to go upto Nandi Hills and they would trek in the mountains and he would go crazy clicking everything and how she would laugh. Her laughter was so full of life, just like her. Everything about her always amazed him. It was when they went to Nandi Hills just after their first year in college, he realized he loved her and could not imagine his life without her.

Whale watching in the Cape Cod

Nothing can describe this experience. I was skeptical at first too...when I was thinking about whale watching..but when you really see them...gosh they are humungous and specatcular. The videos are a little shaky because the ferry kept bobbing up and down with the waves, so the quality is not so good and may be the videos are not that spectacular since they were shot with the canon powershot A510

Did you know that waves leave footprints on the water too? The oil from their bodies washes out to the surface and creates a big circular oil slick! (whales are hunted for this oil), the males are BULLS and the females COWS and the young are calves. On my whale watching trip in the Atlantic Ocean I spotted 22 Humpback whales.

There was this one whale named Anchor, who did the flipping (officially termed as Breaching...and also Lobtailing) That was really something special. I was watching it flip so I did not really bother to capture it...may be another time. The lobtailing video is the last one.
