The unsaid part 16

The unsaid is almost at its end now. Let me remind you all that this is just a brief gist of the actual story so if it moves fast or if it ends too soon, don't blame me. If at all ever I get my works published there would be a lot of editions and additions to this story.

I have received feed back saying that off late the parts of the story are too small and they want to read more, I don't intentionally break them into parts but a good story teller needs to build the story and then get to the climax. and I am following that golden rule. Thanks though to all of you who are reading this.

Please read the previous parts before reading this one. Check the side bar for the links under
"THE UNSAID"

Thanks.

The Unsaid part 16

Andy was devastated. He thought theirs was fairy tale love. He was the prince charming and Jenny was the princess, so beautiful. They had to live happily ever after. That’s how it should have ended. He never, not even in his dreams thought that Jenny would get over him, so quickly. He wondered how that was possible. He had gone to his office and then on his way he was stopped as disaster struck the city. As he was making his way back, stuck in traffic, he started thinking and was now having second thoughts about marriage. But when he saw Jenny at the coffee shop the other day, he thought otherwise. He was just confused.

**********************************************************************************

Steve was out with his girl friend, Charlotte. He was not yet engaged. He had been bragging to his sister and to himself, but he never had the courage popped the question.

Charlotte was a teacher at a local public school.

She had met Steve when she went to file a litigation on behalf of her school. They were both exchanging glances at the first meeting and then Steve mustered up enough mettle to ask her out and then the fairy tale was ever after! He had introduced Charlotte to his parents and to Jenny and everyone adored her. Jenny and Charlotte became good friends. Steve was really glad about that.

But now he was very tensed. It was a now or never situation. They had finished dinner and were waiting for their check.

"Steve, Are you alright?”, Charlotte asked with a concern.

“I am fine. I’ll be back in just a second”, he excused himself and went to the men’s room.

Charlotte was wondering, “What’s wrong with this guy? Is it something to do with Jennifer? I hope she’s alright. Poor thing.” She kept thinking and suddenly she got a fortune cookie in front of her and a cake too.

“Excuse me, we didn’t order these”, But no one seemed to listen. The waiter just walked away.

“Strange place”, she told Steve as he sat down.

“Why Charlotte?” “Look at this”, she pointed to the food on the table.

“So what, nobody seems to mind. Eat the cookie first”, he said.

“Ok! If you say so.” and she shrugged as she broke the cookie and was interested in the fortune more than the cookie.

The fortune read. You are going to be happy in a few minutes.

She had been waiting for this moment and they both shared the dessert. Something was in her mouth as she started to eat the cake, Charlotte pulled out the thing from her mouth and it was a beautiful diamond ring, though it was covered with chocolate. She looked up to Steve, he was not there.

He was down on his knees, looking at her and he finally managed to ask

"Charlotte, Will you be mine? "She was overwhelmed, swept off her feet. She couldn’t react, though she had been expecting this for a long time, it was a unique feeling.

“Oh! Yes Steve! Yes”, and she pulled him close asking “What took you so long?” and kissed him. It was a long, passionate kiss. The people in the restaurant started applauding.

Pete parked the car and they went in the reservation. He checked with the manager and they were led to their table. They were still trying to make small talk though they felt really comfortable with each other.

The unsaid part 15

I really enjoyed writing part 15. Subtle conversations...less of a conversation more of a monologue. Have a nice weekend you all! Halloween is around the corner...
dont forget to read the previous parts before moving on to this one.

The unsaid part 15

They left the apartment. “So tell me, where we are going Peter”

“Pete, you can call me Pete. How about a nice dinner at the French Restaurant. It’s new in town and I’ve dined there. It’s amazing. I hope you’ll like it” They tried to while away time as they got down the elevator making small talk. Pete walked her to his car and opened the door. They got in and it was very tense. Jenny was too reserved to talk. He was too dumbstruck.

“So is that an Armani you are wearing?” she enquired. “Oh God! At last something to talk about. Let him not answer in one word. Why did I ever get into this. Who am I trying to be? What am I trying to prove?” she was talking to herself.

“Yes it is. You may wonder why I’m not wearing one from my own collection. To tell you the truth, I think stink at designing. How great does it feel to parade and strut around in your Armani. The feelings awesome”, he bragged.

“I think I’m talking a lot. Shut up now! Or else she’s going to get out of the car and walk out.” But he did not listen.

“You look great. The pearls bring out the color of your eyes”.

“Thank you”, she blushed, she did not know why. “It never happened with Andy”, she thought.

“You Moron! You should have told her that as you walked in the apartment or at least as you entered the car. Now it looks as if you are complimenting her just because she talked about your suit. You are a complete fragment of crap, sent by God. Only he can save you”.

“The traffic is real bad, these days isn’t it?” he wondered.

“Tell me about it. Yesterday afternoon I was driving from queens. It was one helluva drive. I never thought I’d reach Manhattan.” “This is interesting isn’t it. We’re talking to each other. Who am I kidding? This is a total disaster”, Jenny wondered quietly.

“You want to listen to some music”, he said this as he put on the radio. It was rocking a beautiful number of Bryan Adams, “have you ever really loved a woman”. “What happened to all that you wanted to talk about. You did not sleep last night remember. “I am saving it for dinner. What’ll we talk then. I am not that dumb” Pete was fighting with himself.

“When will we reach the restaurant? I think he’s taking me to a restaurant in France not the French Restaurant. God! Why is it taking so long?” she thought. Both were so busy with their thoughts that they forgot to talk to each other. Both had an interesting conversation with themselves and they finally reached the restaurant

The unsaid part 14

Here is part 14. Don't forget to catch up with the other parts to proceed. I had fun writing parts 11 to 15. Infact part 15 is my favorite! its to follow this post obviously!

The Unsaid part 14

Jennifer was looking forward to the date, in her own unique style. This was her first date with anyone else other than Andy. They had been together ever since, she could remember. She had forgotten all about the date in her excitement of the movie, but Pete’s call reminded her. Jennifer wanted to look casual and natural. She did not want to give him any ideas or any signals, that she was interested, though she really wanted to.

She first dressed herself in low cut strapless evening gown.

“No, that’s too formal and showy Jenny and it does send out all the signals. Makes me look like am all needy! Naa.. You are not going to an opera, and you look too revealing in this dress, she told herself.

She did not understand why she agreed to go out with Pete. She finally decided on a knee high Versace skirt in beige, with an embroidered blue tunic. She chose to wear her pearls; she felt she looked elegant in pearls. But to tell you the truth she looked ravishing and drop dead gorgeous. The pearls brought out the color of her lovely blue eyes. Jennifer had a good dress sense. One must admit that she was pampered and her natural instincts made her choose the right kind of clothes. She had this gift from her father. He was always impeccably dressed for any occasion. The phone rang, she picked it up.

“Hello Jenny! It’s Steve. I just called to check if you were ok?”

“I am sure. You know what I’m going out for a date in another half-an-hour. So, stop your mawkish statements. I’ve to get dressed you know.”

“Oh! So when you get a boy friend he steals you away from me. I am going to kick that guy. By the way, who is it?”

“I’ll tell you, after I get back. Wait a minute, why should I? it’s none of your business to poke your nose into my personal things, Mr. Peeping Tom” “Good bye” and she hung up the phone.

“Man! These girls”, Steve said as he slammed the phone down.

Jenny was all set to go. It was almost eight-thirty and the buzzer rang.

“Hi Jenny.” “Come on up Pete”. After a few minutes, Pete walked in. She had opened the door. He was amazed to feel amazed. She looked great & it look he was star struck.

“You look great!”, he uttered hesitantly.

“Thanks”. Do you want a drink?”, she queried. “No thanks. Shall we?”, he offered his hand.

“Let me just grab my jacket” she said.

The unsaid Part 13

Its almost thirteen parts now and I can't believe so many of you are reading this story!
I recently installed neoworkx blog tool on my blog and I am kind of hooked to it these days. It gives me a detailed list of visitors with the city name and state and also the flags are displayed in the side bar! Its quite a neat tool. Thank you people for visiting and perusing through my blog.
Read the previous parts in the sidebar under The Unsaid or check the previous posts in here's what you just missed!

Happy reading. I think I will follow The Unsaid with my next novel if I still have people left around to read on...

The Unsaid Part 13

Pete could not believe what he read and then he read it again. Then he picked up the phone and dialed Jennifer’s number.

“Hello, can I talk to Jennifer Please?”

“Ya! Speak up. It’s Jennifer.”

“Good morning, this is Peter Willard I don’t think you’ll remember me. We meet in your party last night and...”.

“Oh! I do remember you" she said and bit her lip. "now why did i do that?", she wondered. but he still stood out from the crowd and she still remembered he had asked her out.

'I’m sorry I was such a jerk. I came late and I did not know anything about your fiancĂ©. I am sorry.”

“Oh no! you don’t have to be sorry. It was not your fault. Really, Don’t embarrass me by saying sorry again”, and they chatted on for some more time. A few days later they bumped into each other at the laundry and were yapping away. Jenny began to think that this guy is ok and finally after a few weeks he summed up the courage and asked her out. He called her in the afternoon,“Ok, so are we still on tonight?”

“Sure”.

“Then I’ll come to pick you up at 8.30 in the evening.”

“Sure”

“Bye. See you then”.

“Bye”.

************** ************** ***********

It was seven in the evening when Allan returned home.

“Boy! What a day” he exclaimed as he sunk on the couch.

“Pete, are you in there”, he shouted.

“I’ll be out in just a minute”, he yelled back.

“Tell you what, Pete, people are more excited about Feb. 14th, than the wedding. I should have had my wedding on some other day. “We just got the cards and posted them”.

Pete came out, looking dashing in his Grey Armani suit.

“Hi Allan!” Allan turned around and let out a loud whistle.

“Whew! Pete. Gotta hot date tonight. You never wear your Armani, unless it’s someone special. Who’s the lucky girl?”

“I’ll tell you later.”

“Cool it man! I am getting married. I’m not going to steal your girl, I have my Irene and I am totally happy.”

“No offense Allan. But I’ll tell you about her very soon. I hardly know her.”

“Okay. But don’t forget my thousand bucks”, he pointed out at him.

“Okay. I won’t but I think we ought to sit and talk about it and now is not the time. Anyway, I gotta go now.”

It was 7:30. He checked himself, groomed his hair for the last time in front of the mirror and left.

Fall Foliage White Mountains,NH-Weekend getaway

The Pemigewasset River

Yes yet another travelogue! This time I had been to the white mountains in New Hampshire! Paradise on earth I would name it. I did miss this place at the peak of fall,am very sure it would have been gorgeous ,no harm done still managed to catch the final glimpses of fall as the leaves are blown away by the wind. Not a sound but the rustle of leaves under your feet or the occasional chirping of the birds with the Pemigewasset River running in the backdrop its like the perfect place to be! I guess I say this about every place I visit! Can't help it Nature is marvellous. I have always been obsessed with fall I don't why may be the red, orange and yellow colors or the cold breeze or the gentle rain or the soft rustle of leaves under my feet...I could go on..the list is exhaustive. I am simply a die hard fan of fall thats all.I did write a poem abut my visit and am following it up with this post. As usual if you click on the photo it will take you to flickr for more!

All aboard at 7 am in the morning, a group of 16 of us set out in 4 cars to this place. As we crossed into Vermont, the drive was totally beautiful. It was foggy and we steered into clear roads with the sunlight peeping through the golden yellow leaves of fall, kissing the grass blades drenched in dew drops. It was a wonderful drive to get to another awesome place. The strangest thing was all our cell phones lost signal soon as we entered vermont!

Entering New Hampshire, we took the NH 118 route which was scenic. We made a lot of pitstops by teh stream, by a lake, and on the road and clicked a lot of pictures. Took a bunch of them as I was driving the car. The roads were all paved with gold. The fall leaves withered away and were ornately set on the curb and shoulder on the road giving it a very rich glow of yellow.

Reached Lincoln drove a bit on the Kancamagus Highway and took lunch on the Hobo Rail road along the Pemigewasset River. Fall colors on and off this place was a real treat as i kept clicking away with my camera as the train moved much to my annoyance! This picture on the post is one such painful effort!

Took the Franconia Notch trail to visit the Flume Gorge(a one and a half hour trail that totally tires you out but the roads leading to no where, the little cascades here and there, the fall foliage, the cold river water...this place was just magical. There were lots of little waterfalls along the trail in the Gorge.

Came back to end the journey with a visit to the Basin. I clicked some shots here, tried to imitate some wallpapers was not so successful!
Tired after a long day, we drove happily into the sunset after gathering a lot of glimpses and memories to treasure and cherish for our entire lives, along the long winding road to reach back home.

Goodbye Fall, Will miss you but...I am looking forward to seeing you again next year.

The unsaid part 12

I got feedbacks saying am posting one too many posts and people are not able to catch up with the story...duh! its always here on my blog and you are welcome and read through it and then there are some who tell me that I should not make it yet another soap opera...must wind it up
ASAP. Paying heed to any of these requests I decided to post as often as I can and stretch the story as much as I can!!
Read on and don't forget to read the previous parts
Part 9 (has links to all the other parts)
to catch up with the story coz it will abs. make no sense to you if you don't read that and don't tell me i did not warn you, it wouldn't make any sense even if you get back to this post after reading the previous ones too! Am tired of this dialogue now..will come up with something else!!
The Unsaid Part 12
It was late, when everyone left and Jenny was too tired to clean up the mess. The girls went to bed and Steve camped on the couch. It was a very unusual situation for him, but all the day’s incidents made his eyelids heavy. The three of them were too tired to get up, when the phone rang the next day. But Jenny got up and picked it.
“Hello”, the voice on the other side.“Ms. Jennifer Rodricks please”.
“Yes, this is her”, she said.
“ I am calling on behalf of your agent to tell you that your story was selected. The producers are very happy and they would like you start, whenever you are ready”, he said.
“Okay. Tell them I’ll get back to them very soon,” she ended the conversation.
***********************************************************************************
Pete woke up, only to realize that it was not a dream. He couldn’t believe that he had a date with Jennifer Rodricks. He was excited. There was something about her that excited him. He had not slept till late in the morning. He was so excited, that he could hardly get to sleep that night. He kept thinking about what he would say to her, what they would talk about. Where they would be going, how she would look and every possible thing he could think about. He had never been so excited about seeing a girl before. He never understood why?

****************** *************** **********
Jenny was happy that her story had been accepted and she decided to start on it right away. She had told them if they liked he story, she would pen the dialogues.

She called her agent “Hello! Margaret, Jennifer here”.

“Hello Jennifer. Did you get the news? I am so happy for you dear”, she was a 45-year old woman, who was a very congenial and successful agent.

“Yes, tell them I’ll start right away with the dialogues. By the way ask them about the casting and tell them to talk to me tomorrow”
“Sure” and they hung up.

“Hey, you bunch of lazybones. Wake up”, Jenny tried to wake her brother.

“Steve, I’ve got something to tell you. You know I’m writing the story and dialogues for a new 20th Fox Production. Can you believe that?” Steve was not moving. He would rather have his sleep.

“Jenny, leave me alone. I have an awful headache. I gotta get some sleep, or else I think my head will explode.”

“C’mon Steve. This is big. Are you deaf or what?” She went off to take a shower, as Steve did not show any signs of getting up. She was whistling, “Pretty woman”, and was enjoying her bath. She got off the shower, dressed and took her laptop.

“Let me finish the first scene and then make breakfast. Oh my God! Its almost lunch”.

***************** *******************

Pete got up early, it was true no dreams for an insomniac. He got up and took the paper. He was flipping through the pages and suddenly something caught his eyes, even though he was not interested in reading the paper. It was just another ritual in he morning like getting up, brushing, having a bath, eating breakfast.
It read like this, it was an earmark titled Media Buzz.

"Late fiancé shows up at Jennifer Rodricks apartment. It was a complete fiasco. Will she make it to 20th Fox Pictures? Keep your fingers crossed. Will she write again?"

DON-The chase begins again

Sitting in the last row, the middle seat(best place to be to watch a movie and well if its Shahrukh on screen in DON, there's nothing more needed. I watched the movie wide eyed and agape like a small kid having a fascination for something. ). Shahrukh is just awesome. Been long since I saw SRK in all his glamor, class, style et all after Main Hoon Naa. I remember driving to watch Kaal with my friends just because SRK was doing the one dance. It was worth it. Have always been an ardent SRK fan and he has done justice to the role yet again. He is so sexy and stylish in the movie and felt so good watching SRK in full form. I watched the movie hearing mixed reviews that it was good, sheer waste of time, not like BIG B , etc., but all said and done am always an SRK fan, no matter what and he is simply superb in DON.

Farhan Akhtar has done a good job with the direction and the cameraman is WOW!! the scene where Arjun Rampal walks with his son over the Petronas connecting bridge...Two Thumbs up! really nice shot and the editing is great too! also like the part where Boman Irani opens his briefcase and they show three different angled shots in one scene...The story is with its usual twists and turns and keeps you guessing. I watched the DON of BIG B a long time back and completely forgot all about the movie so I believe I enjoyed this movie better!

They have dressed up SRK as himself and not tried too hard to make him look like Amitabh! That brings out the director's touch in the movie. The graphics by red chillies(I believe SRK and Juhi own it!) is pretty decent. Priyanka Chopra and Isha Koppikar have done a good job. I did not like Kareena doing the helen item no. "Yeh Mera Dil" .Don't know why it turned me off! The intro song of the Vijay character is foot tapping once again Shankar,Ehsaan,Loy have proved themselves. Alisha has sung "Aaj Ki Raat" wonderfully well.

The typical Don dialogues adorn the movie.

Big B is always the Don of the 70's no doubt about that but now its SRK!!!

pssttt: Thanks to wikipedia for the movie photo!

diwali all of you all!

The unsaid Part 11

It was Andy standing in front of her."Happy B’day Jenny. I am really sorry for all that has happened.” He kissed her and took her in his arms.

“I was a crazy lunatic. I did not know what I was doing? I must’ve lost my mind to tell you all that crazy stuff.” She shrugged him away and went in.

“Andy! Why have you come back? I think you have made it a point, or rather your job, to see to that you hurt me in every possible way. You disappeared after Sep 11th. I thought you were dead and cried my heart out. I shut myself from the world. Shunned every thing in life. I could not sleep, eat, I was going crazy. I thought my life was over. Then my brother tells me its time to move on and I thought he was right and plan to start a new life in the New Year. Then Bang! You call me up and tell me all that crap. You think I bought all that! I am not that dumb Andy. You feel you can step in and out of relationships just like that. Your crap, talk, I am ashamed to admit it, but its true, made me think if we were really meant to be. I started facing life with a whole new perspective. I am thankful to you for that. We were never meant to be. Then just when I had made my peace, you came crawling back, and once more try to wreck my happiness, by showing up on my birthday, why can’t you leave me alone?”, saying this she ran out to the balcony.Andy was dumbfounded.

He never imagined that his Jenny would react in such a hell of a way. He never thought she would get over him.

“It’s ok Andy. She’s just terrified, and what’s all this calling? Have you already talked to her. If what she has said is true. Then I guess you must leave”.

“Yes, Steve and I think its best for the both of us that I should just leave.” And he left.

Steve went to console Jenny. It was too cold outside.

“It’s freezing out here Jenny. Come on in. Don’t ruin your birthday for some Andy, you don’t care about. How come you never told me all this?” and he ran in, and came back with a jacket.

“Here, put this on”, and she did.“I did not want to ruin your day, Steve. I was happy” and she started sobbing.

“Now, stop that. I don’t like to see you cry. You have got it off your chest and now come out and have some fun. I’ll see to that he never bothers you again.” He managed to convince his sister by his usual magic and charm, and they came back in.
“Listen up people,” Steve caught the attention of everyone.“Now that we’re here why don’t we have some fun? It's a birthday party not a funeral! I’d like to propose a toast to my wonderful sister. Jennifer who’s turning, oops!! I can’t sat how old she is she’ll kill me if I did, that’s why cake has only one candle, of course multiplied by infinity, on the icing. She’s the best sister you can ever wish for. She’s also a terrific writer. Though I admit, I personally don’t like her series, people still think she’s great. Just kidding. She’s the best ever. Let’s hear it for the award winning Jennifer Rodricks. Cheers!!”, and they all raised their glasses for the toast and the party began.

Pete had been invited to the party as Vicky’s friend, but he was hesitant. He thought about it for a long time. Allan was not home. He was busy with arrangements for his wedding and he was planning to meet his folks.

“I think I must go. I am not sure. I’ll buy some flowers, not the purple orchids, na… they are unlucky.” He bought a bouquet, trying to be polite. He went into Jenny’s apartment, unaware of all the incidents that had happened earlier. He was unlucky once again. He went up to Jenny, and introduced himself.

“I am Peter Willard, a fashion designer”. “Ya! I’ve heard about you. But how come you’re here? My brother just adores your designs”.“I am a friend of Vicky’s”.

“I should have known, only she gets all the great looking guys in town”, she said this in a cautious tone.

“We’re just friends. Not what you think,” he said .

“This is unbelievable. I can’t believe this is happening. Some body pinch me”, thoughts just whorled on in his mind.

Jenny was not drunk, she thought, “Why am I flirting with this guy, when I’m not drunk?” She had no answer.

“I’d like to take you out for dinner some time Ms Jennifer. Oops! I forgot. Happy Birthday” and he handed her the bouquet.

“I don't know about that but may be sometime definitely”, she said.

“Sure then.” he walked on. “Okay”, she said. she did not know why but this guy was different and he stirred up feelings inside her.

"Am I so cheap then? That I fall for the next guywho comes and flirts with me??" she shrugged it off thinking it was just a rebound.

The unsaid Part 10

Read Part 9 which has links to the other posts
The Unsaid Part 10
The snow was heavy and it took a long time to clear the roads, even though they were working day and night. Steve was an attorney-at-law. He was in the best firm in New Jersey and was held in high esteem for his many successes. Both the Rodricks kids were successful in what they were doing. They couldn’t be happier for their kids. Steve like his father was an attorney. He idolized his old man. When he had told them about Charlotte and introduced them to her, they were very happy. They had always supported their kids in what they did and encouraged them to develop their own outlook in life. Jenny always showed interest in writing. She was the editor of the school magazine. One of her columns in the paper earned her fame. Then she thought, perhaps she could give a shot at writing stories and thus her career began. She never looked back after that. Andrew Adams (Andy) worked for the fox department in the WTC. He was a year senior to Jenny at school. He was Steve’s best friend and they were classmates. Andy’s folks and the Rodricks were very close friends. Initially when Steve knew that Andy was interested in Jenny, he was upset and would run havoc in the house.

"He’s a good for nothing. He’s Crazy”. He would go on like this endlessly. But later when he realized they were not goofing around and were really serious, he dealt with it. He was happy for them, what more could he do?

“This traffic is driving me crazy. You could have taken a cab, Steve and saved me all the trouble.”

“At least on your Birthday can’t you be nice to people!”

“Do you call yourself people?” I just love that series. It’s not like yours Jenny. They are original And Creative.

“Ok Steve, at least on my B’day can’t you give me a break or is it really too tough for you”

“Stop it. Don’t get so serious” I swear your series is the best in the whole wide world. Enough”

“Got you didn’t I?” and they started laughing again. They were really close to each other, even though they kept pulling each other’s leg, whenever they got the opportunity.“Do you remember your 16th B’day Jenny?”

“How could I forget that! It’s the best memory of my life. I wish I would live that time once more in my life”.

“Ya! What a great time we had, so tell me Jenny what is the business with this new roommate? Is she pretty?”

“She’s an angel. She’s really cute, but I don’t think she’ll fall for a loser like you. She’s smart, you know. Her name’s Victoria. You’ll meet her soon”.

“I am delighted to see you happy Jenny.”

“Stop that yapping, Steve I am already mad. This traffic’s driving me crazy. It takes me just half-an-hour to drive from Queens to Manhattan. This is really sick, I hate you Steve, you made me go through all this.”

“I’m sorry Jenny. I think it’ll be worth it, when you reach home.” They finally reached Manhattan and they reached Jenny’s apartment. She parked her car in the garage and they went up to the apartment. She put in the key and let herself in.“It’s strange. Why is it so dark there? Vicky, are you there?”, she said this as she switched on the lights.“Surprise”, they all yelled out.“Happy B’day Jenny”, they all yelled.

She blushed with joy. The doorbell rang and she went opened the door and there was a garden of flowers, lots of balloons and she was searching for a face amidst the balloons and purple orchids.“Happy B’day Jenny. This is my gift to you”, Steve yelled from behind her. There was a shocked expression on her face...

The Unsaid part 9

Don't tell me I did not warn you. You are still here to read on with the story so better read
parts 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 , 8. Badri has asked me to finish it soon or email him the rest of the stuff quickly...but the story is gonna take its own sweet time to finish. So hang in there!
The Unsaid Part 9
Jenny had started working again and she was delighted to have Vicky around. The two had a nice time together and were getting along very well. Jenny wondered why she hadn’t thought of having a room-mate earlier. Vicky had moved in on 7th of January. Boy! What a day it was.
Jenny was amazed at the persona of Vicky. She was very enthusiastic, witty and charming. It had been a week since she moved in and then finally found time to talk to each other.“So, where are you from Vicky? I am from Chicago. I started out as a small amateur writer”.
“Will you let me talk. I am from New Jersey. My folks live up there”.
“Hey! My brother lives in New Jersey.”
“Did you ever check up on my background at all? Or you just picked my name out of the lot. You did didn’t you” and they started laughing. The girls went shopping at Bloomingdale’s to celebrate Jenny’s B’day. It was on Jan 15th. Jenny went to pick up Steve from his friends place at Queens.
“Happy B’day Jenny” Steve gave a nice warm hug.
“Hi Steve! It’s good to see you again. So you got away with that free vacation from your friend at Florida. Now I won’t come cheap. Where’s my birthday gift?”
“For a start, I could tell you I may tie the knot, soon”
“That’s never going to work for me. That girl you were dating I think she’s kinda squint eyed. She’s not the one for you. Don’t tell me you’re going to marry her. Anyway that’s not my gift.”
“What well you do if I told you that I’m gonna get married to her and your gift’s waiting in your apartment?” she smiled at him.
“Its really nice to see you so happy Jenny, touch wood for that”.
“Ok! Big brother let’s check out what you’ve got me and anyway why did you ask me to come all the way up here to pick you up. Can’t you just take a cab or the train?”, she queried.
“Probably because I did not want to ruin the gift. It should surprise you. Shouldn’t it”

“Ok you win. I can’t argue with you Thanks for being there for me Steve. It really meant a lot to me. I don’t know what I’d have done without you.”

“Don’t even mention it kid. What are big brothers for anyway?”

“Bullying younger sisters!!” and they started laughing. It took them a real long time to reach Jenny’s apartment. The traffic was really heavy and Jenny kept honking “Crazy drivers”, she commented every now and then.

Leaf Peeping in the woods

I had recently been to the white mountains,New Hampshire and was inspired to write this.

Leaf Peeping in the woods!

The chirpy birds woke me up,
At the very break of dawn
Away from the warmth of my bed
Long before the moon's all gone.

I set out on the long, winding road
To catch a glimpse of paradise
Don't know why but...nature in all her beauty
Always has me enticed.

At a distance,I can see
The mountains towering high,
I drive on-its a cold day
With the sun out and a clear sky

A stop by the lake
So colorful,so serene
The foliage in the water,
Something new,something unseen

The long drive in the hills
Leading to paths unknown
In the whispering woods
A place I wish I can call my own

Somewhere lost in the gorgeous colors
I can hear the embellished gurgling stream
white pebbles et all-Craving for attention
Merely letting out a scream.

The leaves tinted with gold,
The ground spewing shades of red
The orange leaves still hanging on
All the trees just waiting to shed

Painted with the various
vibrant shades of fabulous fall
I went leaf peeping in the woods
Amidst the canopy of trees so tall

The sunset across the horizon
Matching the various shades of autumn
The sky looks riled up
Tinted all orange and crimson

I drive back on a deserted road
Away from the mixed sound and shade
Slowly as the leaves fall
The memories too will fade.

pssstt...am following up this one with my photo blog about the visit. So watch out for this space.

The unsaid part 8

I gave a break of about 4 days for whoever is reading my novel to catch up.Here is part 8 now. Read the previous parts to follow.

Part7 through part1

The Unsaid Part 8

Pete and Allan walked into the cafĂ©.“Hey man, look there she is. Go talk to her and go out on a date. Our bets still on”, Allan said.“Okay”, Pete said, “but let me have my dinner first”. He quietly finished his dinner, watching Jenny. Then he walked up to her. “Excuse me, you are Jennifer Rodricks right?” he enquired, as if he did not know.“Yes. But I’m not..”, before she could finish, he started.“I am a great fan of yours. I’d like to know why you’ve stopped writing. You know we’re missing you. Don’t you?”

She then realized she hadn’t worked for almost a year, sorry 3 or 4 months and then her producer’s call came back in a flash. She was so much preoccupied with thoughts of Andy that she could not think of anything else.“Well, I don’t have to explain myself to a complete stranger. I am delighted that you are my fan. Well what’s your name?”
“I am Peter Willard, I am a fashion designer I’ve got my own boutique, I even have my shows. This is my card. I’d like to take you out for dinner sometime. Call me”, he just left.

“Ya you keep dreaming. She has already left and you never got to talk to her. Snap out of it Pete. You are a loser. My thousand bucks”. That was when Pete realized it was just a figment of his imagination.“Damn it!” he exclaimed.“Oh boy! Don’t say that. I’m happy to see that I’m inching closer to my thousand bucks. Tell you what you take her out for dinner before I get married or else, pay me my thousand bucks. Now I gotta go meet Irene. She’ll be waiting for me, you know what, be surprised I think I’ll pop the question, very soon. We’ve been going steady for almost two years and I think we’re ready to commit to each other. So start hunting for your roommate soon ‘coz I’ll be moving. Also man, save money to throw me my bachelor party. Its gotta be a good one dude”, and Allan walked out.

Pete was unlucky in the sense that it rained on the day he bought his bed. There was a bad snow storm when he first came to New York and they landed in Virginia. His first show was a complete fiasco. He was lucky in some other ways. Well you can’t get everything in life can you?One of Irene’s friends needed an apartment, she ended up being Jenny’s roommate. Well it’s a small world after all.

Allan had finally popped the question to Irene, she accepted and they were getting married on the 14th of February. Oh! How romantic! That’s what Pete thought. He did want to give one more shot at talking to Jennifer and he buzzed her apartment.“Ya, who’s it” “Its Peter Willard. I...”“Ya! Come up Pete” was the answer before he could finish.

“Strange!” he thought and he went up and knocked. Victoria opened the door and kissed him.“Gee Pete. How did you know I was here? Did Irene tell you?”

Pete was surprised, indeed “Hey! Wait a minute. Take it easy. I’m not here to see you. I am here to meet Jenny”, he wished he had said that.

“Hi Vicky. Well I’d like you to know that if you need any thing I’m just in the opposite block. Fell free to drop in,” he bit his tongue as he said that, and left.

“Feel free to drop in. What are you a moron? You completely missed it up Pete,” he chided himself as he went down in the elevator.

Jenny had the habit of writing her diary but she had not entered a word in it for almost a year now. (Ya! 3 months). (It’ January remember!!). She opened her new diary to January 12th and started writing.

Dear diary,

I know I’ve neglected you for a really long time. But now I have thought things over, I’m clear now. I am still missing Andy. I don’t think anybody should know it, not even Steve. But I have decided to move on, and I have promised myself that I’ll be happy and really have fun. No matter what happens. I am going to look out for Mr. Right, if he’s out there, but I swear I’m not going to get hurt anymore and taken for a ride.

Time was ticking for Pete. He just had almost a month left. He started realizing a month left. He started realizing, that more than the bet he was now more obsessed with Jenny. So he called up Allan and told him that he was a loser and he would pay him the money.“I knew it Pete. Use it for my bachelor party man,” Pete could sense the excitement in his voice. Pete finally decided it was time to talk to Jenny. He did not know how, when and where, but he just knew he had to do it. He just felt she was the one.

The phone rang in Pete’s apartment. Pete picked up and couldn’t believe what he heard. He was jumping up and down. He was very excited. Pete had just been offered to design for a Hollywood movie. He had put a word here and there. One of them had even talked to him on his show before Christmas. He was very excited and once again, he had forgotten about Jennifer Rodricks.“Hey Allan, I’ve been offered to design for a Hollywood movie. I can’t believe what I’m telling.”“Neither can I!”, Allan mocked,“Shut up Allan. I swear I’ll kill you”.“Just kidding man. Good luck, so when do you start?”“I don’t know. They said they’ll inform me very soon. Boy Am I excited or what?”“Well don’t forget my Bachelor party man. I’ll kill you if you did”. “Oh! My God! I gotta go now. Bye catch you later Allan, and he left suddenly.“God help him”, Allan exclaimed.

The unsaid part 7

I already warned you and you are still here to read this story! well again God Help you!

Read part 6 and part 5...upto part1 and then get on to part 7. Now That's an order.

The unsaid part 7

“I know its tough on you. But on Sep 11th, I was lucky enough to get stuck in traffic on the way to my office. I never made it to my death. Well after the incident it struck me that I’ve been gifted with a new life and things started to become very clear. I realized I’ve been given a new life to live it in a new way. That’s why I could never gather enough mettle to talk to you or even face you. That’s why, I hope you got my letter. I am really ashamed and then I felt guilty for not telling you about this. I am glad I was able to. Now forget me, what we had was just infatuation. It was never love. You may think all this to be crap. But, that’s the way I feel. I care about you Jenny. But I don’t care in that special way. May be you’ll meet your soul mate soon and live a happy life. I’ll never bother you again. I am happy and I pray that you are also happy. Bye. I’ve changed my phone, my life, so never worry about me. Adios. Have a wonderful New Year”, and then there were messages from her producer and her mom and dad and some of her friends.

She was deaf and dumb for a while. She was just shocked. This was the worst year ever, even though only a few days have passed, she felt her life had ended.

There was Andy telling her that he did not love her, and this was for real, she sat on the couch and played the messages again & again and finally said to herself, “Ok Andy you don’t love me, You know what I don’t love you either, I’m gonna get out, meet people find my Mr. Right. You were the worst thing that ever happened to me and I’m not interested in carrying on bad memories along. It’s just not right and she broke down. She wanted to call Steve, but didn’t bother.

“Let him know it later, why spoil his New Year.” She then felt that she just had to get out of the apartment and take a walk and decided to go out . As she was coming down, she ran into Mr. Martin.

“Ask your boyfriends to stop banging on my door, lady. I don’t like being disturbed”, he yelled.

“I wasn’t even home Mr. Martin, I just got here from Florida. Anyway, what was his name again”, she asked.

“I don’t know. He was a tall, lean guy with flowers, purple orchids, I believe, in his hands. I can’t stop to chitchat with you. I have lots of other things to do”.

“Good night Mr. Martin”, she yelled back to him.

“The nerves that jerk has. Trying to be polite, my foot.” Jenny thought. “So, it was Andy. He’s turned into a nutcase. He’s the one with purple orchids.” She walked to the cafĂ© and ordered for her coffee. She then sat down and started thinking.

“May be, we weren’t meant to be. But why did he ask me to marry him? When he felt a hint that it was never love, why couldn’t we had a talk over it. Well I’m glad he did not embarrass me in front of every one, at the church. May be, Steve’s right, I must move on”.

She decided to place an ad for a roommate. She was fed up being alone. She wished she had known about Andy’s intentions earlier, she wouldn’t have had to go through so much now. She decided to mail him, perhaps later (even though she did not have his address). She was happy, that it did not affect her career. People thought he was dead and she wanted him dead anyway. She decided to have her dinner.

The unsaid part 6

If you are here its a very established fact that you are adamant about reading this to the end! God help you! But if you are sane enough you have to read the previous parts to get on with the story...

read

part 5

Part 5 has links to the other posts!

Part 6

“Hey Pete! My dad’s friend just got me two tickets to the playoffs in two weeks. I think I can even get hold of ass the seasons tickets. Wanna go?”

“Sure man, why not. I’d love to watch the knicks play;”

It was New Year’s Eve and the city was happening. Well,
Allan out of his own way went on to fix a blind date for Pete for the New Years party.

“ I don’t want you to be alone man. When I’m having fun, you too should be having fun”, he commented.

Pete had forgotten all about the bet. It was just a few seconds to New Year and the lights were switched off and everyone started the countdown. Pete did quite like the girl he was introduced. She was Vicky (Victoria), then it was New Year and every one kissed. It was wonderful New Year’s party. That’s what Pete thought. There was merry-making and fun-n-frolic everywhere. It seemed as if everyone was enjoying the very first day of a wonderful year to be.

Well, that was where Pete was wrong. Jenny was not happy. She was obsessed with mourning over Andy. She was sitting alone in the bar. She wasn’t drinking too much.
“This sucks”, she told herself, “Steve’s right, if Andy’s dead, then I must try to move on,” saying this to herself, she tried to mingle with the crowd and party. It wasn’t easy for her.
“Jenny”, Steve waved to her.
She waved back and joined him. It was a few seconds to New Year and then celebrations began. It was 3.00 in the morning when they got back to their room.
“Jenny, don’t sleep late. We’re going skiing tomorrow”,

Steve yelled out as he dozed off. Then on the New Year’s Day, they had fun skiing, throwing snowballs at each other and even building the snowman, Steve was delighted to see Jenny in such a good mood. He was happy to be there for his little sister.
Pete went into the block opposite his, and just as he was entering the block, someone was coming out, so he had the chance to get into the apartment. As the girl passed by he enquired,
“Jenny is in the 2nd floor right?”,
“I am sorry I’m new here”, the girl replied and moved off .
“Oh boy!, that was a mere wasteful attempt,” he said to himself. “She must think that I am a moron”.
He then realized he could’ve buzzed her and waited.
“But what if she doesn’t let me in?” Anyway he was determined to meet Jennifer for better or for worse today. He scanned through the first floor.
“No luck”, then it struck him “why don’t I try it this way?” and he knocked on 1006 on second floor. The door opened, it was a grumpy old man.
“Is Jennifer there?” he enquired.
“No she lives upstairs, apartment 9015”, and the old man shut the door on his face.
Mustering courage, checking his hair and face, Pete rang the bell of 9015. He had brought flowers too. “How thoughtful of me”, he said to himself. He rang and rang there was no answer. It was almost 15 minutes and then he realized, She wasn’t home. As he was waiting for the elevator, he heard the phone ring in Jennifer’s apartment.
Jenny came home after the lovely vacation her brother had treated her to. It was the 5th of January and the day they returned Steve had to report back to duty. So he pushed off at the airport itself. Steve lived in New Jersey.
“Bye Jenny. Take care I’ll miss you. Get over Andy. I’ll call you later” and he pushed off.

Jennifer returned to her empty apartment. She lived with Andy all this time and then with his thoughts. She suddenly realized how alone she was without Andy. She saw her answering machine blink. I wonder if it’s Mom & Dad. She switched it on.

“Hi Jenny”, as she heard the voice she let out a gasp. Her heart skipped a beat.

Maine Mania...Magic and Maya...

Originally uploaded by digijinx.
This whole post is random incoherent thoughts combined into one. Firstly Thanks to T...for letting us camp at her place. You were just wonderful.
I am just lost for words to describe all the beauty I got to imbibe
over the last weekend in Magical Maine. Aptly termed as "Vacation Land", this place
has a plethora of things on the palette. You name it, they have it! Click on the picture for more Maine maya!

The weekend get away started off a little spooky as the late night drive
landed us in a lot of fog and yes it was a scene from a typical horror movie...a chill down the
spine..naan..am exaggerating i guess! we could only see the headlights of our car flashing
an inch ahead. the side windows were all engulfed in a hazy maze. it was a dangerous drive
wish we had exchanged some horror stories then, it was way too kewl and we screamed our way
through the darkness and when we finally squinted our way to Maine, we stepped out
only to freeze. It was a freaking -2 deg Celsius outside. Crashed on the sleeping bags
only to wake up to a gorgeous fall day...the sun was out..the skies so lucid...perfect!
There was one trained model, one professional photographer..aka cameraman!,one a bit scared and not
interested to pose for photos alone and one who was trying hard to get good photos..thus there were four of us! Oops! I forgot to mention Tigger,Twinkle and Michael(They go wherever the car goes.. a tiger,a pink baby and a bear(christened by my niece recently))
The four lunatics set out and there were many firsts for me in Maine. For starters,
we just pulled over into an apple orchard and had fun picking few apples(most of which are still adorning
my trunk! may their soul rest in peace...am still in the process of making an apple pie!) after a lot
of yes and no's we finally headed north to Moosehead lake. I would rate it.."the Place" in Maine.
it was so beautiful. Took an airplane ride(more a seaplane) to chek out the fall colors
and clicked away! got lucky with some shots I would say. Fall was gorgeous from up above the puffy clouds.
No wonder New England is the best place to be to enjoy the fall colors. I agree...hands down!
I am glad i took the plane ride.

Spent the day driving up and pulling over the side of the road to gape at the woods.
The woods were painted with the scintillating shades of fall and i was struggling
in every possible way to capture them in my camera. Another thing I saw for the first time was a Moose...
They didnt look anything like what I imagined them to be...they were huge alright...but
the antlers weren't big..there were just like a cow's horn..but we spotted a whole family of moose
the dad,mum and baby..it was just great. Was dark already and drove back home after dinner.

Day 2 was just as perfect as the day before. We headed to Bar Harbor in Maine and on the way took the
Schoodic scenic byway...Maine boasts of 4 scenic byways (i believe there are some 60 odd scenic byways in the US)
Saw a jellyfish(another first) in the backwaters and man it was not as cute as it was in Nemo! but still good enuf to take pics.
Some of my friends ate lobsters..now saw lobsters for the first time too..then the trip had to end like all good things
Drove back leaving behind the beautiful colors of fall only to get back to the dull, mundane routine called work! But fall is
gonna be in my place pretty soon..so another trip to catch a glimpse of the ever so beautiful colors of fall. All said and done
one cannot capture all of nature's beauty just with a camera..I still have wonderful memories to treasure for life! A lot of
places to explore and the journey continues...

The Unsaid Part 5

If you are here, you oughtta read this first and then read on to follow the story
and the ones b4 that. Bharat I posted part 5 early ...since you said you were
Waiting...!!
The Unsaid Part 5
and...they were hotel reservations and tickets to Las Vegas.Jenny was 28 years old, a blonde, straight haired, (Probably the work of hair straighteners). She was quite beautiful in fact pretty cute. But she was still the kid sister, and when she saw the tickets, she screamed and started crying. They were not tears of joy “How could you, Steve?” she cried. “Now, stop crying Jenny. You’re not a kid. I know you’ve a cool head on your shoulders. Now I am coming along with you. I just want you to get over Andy. Its time to move on. Believe me Jenny! I know its tough, but can’t you give it a chance?”“ I can’t. I’m sorry Steve; it’s really tough on me. You won’t understand what I’m going thro’. You never will”.“Now, stop that Jenny. We’re going and that’s final. I’m your brother and I am sick of you cutting a sorry figure. You need a change”.That day Jenny reluctantly had to leave with her brother. She was gloomy throughout the journey. She never knew what was waiting for her and how everything was going to change.

***** ***** ***** *****
Pete’s folks left the day after Christmas. Pete felt happy to have entertained his family for Christmas. “Watch out for the next episode , you will find out why Cathy disappeared” the TV went on.“ why are you watching this thing again? Aren’t you tired of watching the re-runs, you crazy lunatic? Allan man what’s wrong with you?” Pete was chuckling.“well let me put it this way to you Pete. You must be a nut not watching this show man.”Pete kept laughing and Allan got serious. “ No man the writer of this sitcom Jennifer Rodricks is having some trouble in her personal life and she has stopped writing for this show, I heard rumors that her fiancĂ© passed away in the Sep 11 disaster. Not very sure about it though. She isn’t writing now. This is the series man. You must be dumb not to watch it okay. Don’t you ever read the papers man?” Allan gave a long speech and then he handed the magazine out to Pete saying, “ here read this man”Pete suddenly remarked, “ Hey man I have seen her somewhere”.“don’t tell me you used to date her in high school , Pete for crying out loud and well of course she must have dumped a jerk like you anyway.” Allan mocked.“ no Allan am dead serious man , am not kidding. I swear I have seen her somewhere.”“Gee!! Sorry to spoil your surprise man. I am in no mood for all your blah blahs!! Do you mind?” Allan kept teasing him.“ Allan c’mon man this is serious. She is a cute chick and you know I don’t forget such pretty faces so easily. And say, it’s not a bad idea after all. I would like to date her”, Pete was laughing as he said this out aloud and was still contemplating.Suddenly, “ that’s it Allan, I think she lives in the block opposite to ours. I ran into her last week. I told you I have seen her somewhere. I never forget such pretty faces man. I am not that old ok!!”
“ gimme a break Pete. Okay I believe every word you say and you can believe what I say now. Harry potter is a fiasco. Michael Jordan had an amazing comeback. Okay now we are even man” Allan laughed out aloud.
“ ok suit yourself. Tell you what, lets have a bet. I tell you I will take this girl out to dinner at least once ok. Who knows, she might be the one for me. What do you say Allan?”
Allan just thought for a little while and then nodded his head in total agreement “the bet is on Pete. I never miss the opportunity to make easy money and in your case it is a cakewalk man. Lets make it interesting say 1 grand?” Allan asked Pete.
Pete shook hands with Allan and said “ its on then Allan.”
“Gee!! I never knew that I could make money so easily without going to Vegas man” Allan exclaimed aloud.

The unsaid part 4

You oughtta read all these b4 so that you can follow unsaid part 4
Jenny then looked in to check if there was any seal on the envelope.“Nope nothing here, probably some jerk dropped it in the mailbox. Do I have a stalker?”, Jenny wondered. She couldn’t believe what she read. It was incredible. She did not know how to react, she was happy to learn that Andy was still alive, but him dumping her ,well that was news. They had been together for a very long time and now this was a thunderbolt out of a clear blue sky.Jenny awoke with a start. “ Was it just a dream?”, she wondered and scrambled and searched for the envelope. “If Andy is still alive and if he still loves me, then that will be my ideal and most beautiful Christmas gift”.

It would be almost a dream come true for her after all she had been through the past few months. The envelope was there alright and it still read the same. There was nothing new. So it was true, not a dream. “Why am I so bothered about this envelope? Probably it’s Steve or some psycho jerk playing a prank on me. I better ignore this and get some sleep”. She was still clutching the envelope in her hands as she went to get a glass of water and watched the snowfall. She lived on the 30th floor and so she could get a good view of the skyscrapers of the city. The magic of Christmas tingled a hope in her heart. Central park will now be covered in sheets of white and she missed Andy terribly now. It was midnight already and like a small kid, she looked into her stocking.“I have a surprise for you tomorrow. You can’t say no, coz I won’t let you.” Love Steve. She smiled reading it and went off to bed.
The next morning, Jenny woke up to Christmas without the usual enthusiasm. She was more like a zombie now and with the letter coming in and all she was all confused. She woke up smelling coffee. “ So Steve you are at it again?” she asked him and managed a smile.“ I know you little sneak, I know that you went through your stockings yesterday night” he mocked.“ Ya Ya right. As if you are Santa” she talked back.“Yes I am Santa Claus you know” and he started making sounds like Santa.“ Ok cough it up. What is my surprise?” jenny demanded.Steve flashed out something from behind the paper he was reading. She grabbed them from his hands and...

The unsaid part 3

Since its the third part of the unsaid...I would just like to say that its not such a big thing but you have to read

The unsaid part 1

The unsaid part 2

to proceed further to part 3

Jenny woke up, hearing some noise in the kitchen.

“Oh my god!! He is cooking!! Not again!!!” she pulled herself out of bed and ran into the kitchen.
“Steve!!” she screamed. “Don’t wreck my kitchen. It’s still suffering from your previous visit. I have had enough of your royal dinner”, she grabbed the bread slice and pushed him out of the kitchen. She was having fun doing all this.
“Stop it! Will ya? I am an expert cook now. See now I don’t burn toasts anymore. I make scrambled eggs but they turn out to be scrambled pans!” and he showed her a pitch-black pan. Jenny’s face was filled with disgust and just then the oven timer went off.
“What have you done with my oven??” she screamed as she looked into the oven.
“Hey ! I was planning on having some cake!!” Steve remarked.
“Well I see what you mean by cake!!. Now I don’t need your expert cooking anymore. I’ll take care of breakfast and now you go watch TV or read the paper for all I care. But just get the hell outta here”, she pushed him out.
Jenny lived in a two-bedroom apartment near Central Park. The place was very spacious and now that Andy had left it was empty!!
“Say Jenny! Are you working today”, Steve asked her as if nothing had happened. “If not what do you say we go shopping for your and my Christmas gifts??”, he looked at her wondering how she would react.
There was a long pause before Jenny answered.
“ That’s not a bad idea. Let’s go out. I seriously could use some shopping. Anyways I have to buy new cutlery and new pans”, she winked at him. Thank god the oven is alright”.
The thought that she was going out gave a hint to Steve that perhaps she was trying to move on. They had their breakfast and started.
“ Jenny I hope its not too late and the shops aren’t closed. It’s almost Christmas and I seriously hope there are gifts left. Hey! I never gotta watch your series. How is it going? I bet it’s awful. You are not good at comedy as me? And anyways I know about you” and he looked at her with a sense of self-pride.
“By the way how much did you pay the guys for those awards you got? I am damn sure it will be a fake and it would have cost you a fortune. But still they look fake Jenny. Take them off your mantel piece ok” and he guffawed. She was spewing fire from her eyes enough to melt the ice in the city.
“tell me how much they cost anyways so I can buy one or two for you this Christmas. You have an Emmy and a golden globe, right I wont get you those . lets look out for other awards” and he went on and on.
Jenny stared at him and just yelled “Steve!!”. There was something in that voice that told him to stop.
“Jus’ kidding!! Jenny come on don’t get too serious. You gotta take life in its stride”, he apologized.
They waved for a cab and got in.

************************************************************************************

Finishing his show, Pete wished everyone a merry Christmas and a wonderful and happening New Year. He wanted to savor and treasure every moment in New York. He had invited his parents for Christmas and he knew, they too would have a blast.
Allan was constantly pestering Pete.
“Hey I must get the ring soon man. I know that we are meant for each other. I plan to ask her to marry me this New Year”, Allan was all too excited.

Allan was totally involved with Irene. He was a fire fighter and had literally seen the WTC tumble down, in front of his eyes and he had rescued quite a few lucky survivors. The way he described the nightmare was too touchy. Pete felt sorry for the people.
Irene had protested so much when he was assigned duty on ground zero. A lot of firefighters had laid down their lives in the effort to save many. She did not want him to just risk it. But Allan was insistent and he sat down and explained to her how important his job was and how it would make a difference in a lot of lives. Albeit Irene agreed to all this, she was still apprehensive. In Pete’s words, they were a perfect match .
Allan was also from Florida and Pete and Allan were from the same high school. When Pete wanted to pursue his career in New York, Allan was more than happy to help him out. Still he pointed out to Pete all the pros and cons of making it in the big city.
“It might be a tough challenge to come up as people now kinda fear to enter Manhattan. The nightmare still haunts everyone. New York has now become you could say a forbidden city. People practically dread the place. I just pray that everything returns to normal very soon”, he was telling Pete.
They left for shopping after Pete came back from the show. It was still two more days to Christmas. Pete was looking forward to spend the holidays with his family.
It was just a day to Christmas and Pete was just too happy to see his folks again. They went to watch miracle on 34th street and gazed at the empire state building. It was all lights for Christmas. They walked through Times Square and awed at Macy’s. It was indeed a wonderful Christmas for the Willard’s.

Steve helped Jenny put up the tree and they decorated it with patience and passion. It was a quiet Christmas for them. Steve had slept on the couch watching a movie and Jenny was up cleaning the apartment. Then she found a white envelope.
She opened it nonchalantly and it went like this.
“Jennifer I am writing this to tell you that Andy is still very much alive. He ran out on you, before the big day ‘coz he was never in love with you.”
It was not signed.
